摘要：
The author argues that sociology of knowledge should play an important part in research in the history and social studies of technology and that it could be applied to the "technical properties" of technologies (such as the accuracy of missiles). The author considers three main ways of gaining the knowledge of these properties - authority, induction, and deduction - and shows that all of them are not exempt from social processes.
