摘要：
It is proposed that weight control and appetite are more strongly inherited than currently acknowledged. This view, based on evidence from a wide range of animal species, applies to the normal range of variability and to the more extreme eating disorders of obesity and anorexia. Diet choice and activity are seen as triggering factors uncovering hidden layers of the genome. If the hypothesis is accepted it suggests several modifications to our current understanding of eating disorders and indicates changes in methods of prevention and control in practice. © 1990.
