TELECOMMUNICATIONS IN THAILAND

Thailand recently embarked on an ambitious new program designed to substantially improve the availability of telephone lines. For instance, in 1992 alone, some 220,000 new subscriber lines were mode available, half of which were installed by Siemens in the context of turnkey projects. The program has been considerably accelerated thanks to the nation's commitment to privatization and liberalization in the telecommunications sector.
