From a discussion of various interventions which had an effect of surprise on both patient and analyst, and from a rereading of Karin Obholzer's << Interviews >> with the Wolfman, the author stresses the particular nature of analytic interpretation, which allows both protagonists to recognise themselves in a mutual identification.
