Problems of controlling the reproduction of copyright material are increasing with the development of new technology in information supply. Methods of providing access to information using new technology while enabling information producers and providers to earn a reasonable revenue must be addressed. Should the guidelines laid down by the Copyright Licensing Agency to cover traditional copying be extended to cover these new methods of collection and reproduction? Possible solutions to the problems of protecting copyright are presented and discussed. Finally, what does the future hold for commercial publishing and what measures can be taken to ensure a future exists?
