KINETICS OF THE REACTIONS OF HYDROGEN IODIDE WITH HYDROXYL AND NITRATE RADICALS

摘要
The reactions of HI with OH and NO3 have been studied in discharge-flow reactors coupled to EPR and mass spectrometry for analysis. The rate constants for the reactions HI + OH --> H2O + I (1) and HI + NO3 --> HNO3 + I (2) were determined at 298 K: k1 = (3.3 +/- 0.2) X 10(-11) and k2 = (2.5 +/- 0.8) X 10(-15) cm3 molecule-1 s-1. Further measurements of k2 over the temperature range 298-373 K yielded the expression k2 = 1.3 X 10(-12) exp[(-1830 +/- 300)/T] cm3 molecule-1 s-1. The results for reaction (1) are compared with earlier literature data; those for reaction (2) are the first ones.
