Frustration effects in a Kondo lattice: a model for the coexistence of magnetic and non-magnetic Ce planes in CeSb

摘要
The coexistence of magnetic and non-magnetic planes, observed by neutron diffraction in CeSb, is described assuming that each Ce plane is a two-dimensional Kondo lattice, interacting with the neighbouring planes through RKKY interaction. We show that, when the Ce planes are close to the Kondo-ferromagnetic instability, such magnetic structures are stabilized if the interplane interactions are frustrated.
