摘要
The suggestion of Marinari and Parisi to identify observables in 2D gravity with correlators in matrix quantum mechanics is considered. A correct quantization in the double scaling limit reduces the problem to the calculation of a few eigenfunctions of a simple one-dimensional hamiltonian. A function is defined which may substitute the Painleve transcendent for a nonperturbative description of random surfaces statistics.
