摘要：
The upgrading of a Wisconsin wastewater treatment plant posed several challenges for Piper Electric, among these considered to be the toughest is the communications between the PLCs and OI. This is important since the OI and four PLCs were local, while the four PLCs in pumping stations were remote. To solve this problem, the Tiway 1 data introduced by Siemen was used to connect the four local PLCs to the OI. The four remote sites were made to communicate through short-range modems which were chosen for their ease of communication and pass through abilities. This, enabled operators to monitor main wastewater treatment plant operations, as well as monitor events in pump stations located through out the city, from one central station.
