SYNERGISTIC EXTRACTION OF COPPER(II), COBALT(II) AND NICKEL(II) WITH TRIFLUOROACETYLACETONE AND PYRIDINE

摘要
A method is proposed for extractive spectrophotometric determination of copper(II), cobalt(II) and nickel(II) using trifluoroacetylacetone (TFAA) in combination with pyridine (Py) as an extractant. The effects of pH and concentration of TFAA and pyridine on the extraction have beep reported. Copper(II), cobalt(II) and nickel(II) give coloured complexes having maximum absorbances at 325, 315 and 328 nm respectively. The method is precise and reproducible and has been used for the determination of copper(II), cobalt(II) and nickel(II) in environmental, pharmaceutical and alloy samples.
