摘要
The present article analyzes representations of translators as artisans in three argentine novels from the 1990s and the 2000s. A staple in Latin American Culture, the figure of the translator is identified in these works with precariousness at an economic and institutional level, as well as with a material proximity with the activity of translating. On the other hand, the fictional rendering of translators as Homo faber coincides with real translators discourse and the latest trends in translation theory. From within the realm of fiction, critical reflection and theory, translation reads literature from its material specificity as text, language and style. A slightly anachronistic figure, the artisan translator emerges as a construction of the critical autonomy of literature.
