摘要：
This study is the outcome of the analysis of opinions towards the marriage patterns amongst 174 Younger and 174 older generation of females residing in Pallapalayan village of Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu. The investigation was conducted through the recording of opinions of the respondents on criteria for the timing of marriage age difference, preference in marriage types, dowry payment, horoscope consultation and intended age at marriage for girls. The study reveals conspicuous differences of opinions conditioned by diverse factors.
