INTER AND INTRAPOPULATIONAL GENETIC DIVERSITY IN AFRO-VENEZUELAN AND AFRICAN POPULATIONS

摘要：
Data on five polymorphic loci expressed on blood obtained in two Afro-Venezuelan populations (Ganga and Patanemo) were compared with chose from 15 African ethnic groups. Estimates of gene diversity were remarkably similar in the 17 populations. The two Venezuelan groups clearly separated from the African ones in a genetic distance analysis, while the latter clustered in accordance with what is known about their geography and history. Despite distinct origins and population structure, Ganga and Patanemo show only slight differences in the generic markers studied.
