Civil Society, Public Protest and the Invasion of Iraq

This article examines the emergence and implications of the anti-war protests ranged against the US-led invasion and occupation of Iraq. In highlighting Australia's involvement in the anti-war movement of 2003 and beyond, the article draws attention to the role of new technologies in transforming practices of political engagement. Attention is drawn to the global democratic possibilities that arise from such developments as well as their challenges and limitations.
