摘要
Smoking cigarettes is nowadays the leading preventable cause of morbidity and mortality all of the world, but the health consequences of using nicotine are not borne equally among all populations. Most HIV-positive persons smoke cigarettes. The prevalence of current nicotine use in HIV-positive smokers is markedly higher than in the general population. Despite substantial clinical advances in HIV care in the era of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), HIV-positive persons are at high risk of nicotine-related disease such as cardiovascular, pulmonary and infectious complication and death. This study has been made to estimate the scale of using nicotine among HIV positive individuals in Poland.
