摘要
A mathematical model of heat and mass transfer processes in shell and tube heat exchangers is presented. The components of the mathematical model are described and the directions of its potential development and practical applications in designing of industrial heat exchangers are suggested. The basis of the mathematical description is composed of two sets of partial differential equations for momentum, mass and enthalpy transfer of cold and hot fluids and the equation of heat conduction in metal components of the tube bundle. The mathematical model allows one to predict heat and mass transfer processes both in steady and unsteady states. With respect to wide range of aspects considered in heat and mass transfer processes in shell and tube heat exchangers, some most important components of the mathematical description are presented.
