RESPONSE OF BELL-PEPPER (CAPSICUM-ANNUUM-L) PHOTOSYNTHESIS, GROWTH, AND FLOWER AND FRUIT SETTING TO NIGHT TEMPERATURE

Net photosynthetic rate (P(N)), growth and flower and fruit setting patterns were studied in two cultivars of bell-pepper (Capsicum annuum L. cv. Arka Mohini, a determinate type and Arka Basant, an indeterminate type) grown st two different night temperatures. P(N) and growth were higher at high night temperature (27/22-degrees-C, day/night) than at low night temperature (27/17-degrees-C) in both cultivars. The flower and fruit numbers were higher in the plants grown at 27/17-degrees-C than at 27/22-degrees-C.
