摘要
Moyes A. and Westhead P. (1990) Environments for new firm formation in Great Britain, Reg. Studies 24, 123-136. Attempts to explain spatial variations in new firm formation usually involve the presumption that areas have distinct environmental conditions which affect formation rates. This paper sets out to define these environmental variables and their territorial expression, and then tests whether they produce different rates of new firm formation. At a county scale, eight different environmental types are defined which indeed have significantly different formation rates. Policy implications are drawn from these findings. © 1990, Regional Studies Association. All rights reserved.
