摘要
Academic strategy have used the notion of business model to refer to the company's logic, how they operate and create value for its stakeholders. From this idea, the authors applied the business model canvas to the business models of companies in the banking sector: Banco do Brasil and Caixa Economica Federal, for the period 2002 to 2012. The study sought the application of the business model canvas for two institutions of the Brazilian banking sector, with strong state control, which has as one of its strategies being agents of public policy for the federal government. Therefore, the objective of this study is to clarify how the corporate strategy can be viewed more clearly through the description of the operation of their business models. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the studied company are able to create economic value from its business model. The survey also enabled us to verify some gaps in the business model used and suggested as possible topics to be studied in future projects.
