PARTIAL SUBSTITUTION OF SOYBEAN-MEAL IN RATIONS FOR FATTENING PIGS .1. SYSTEM BASED ON MOLASSES-B AND FEED

A total of 144 rotational Duroc, Yorkshire, Landrace and Hampshire pigs of approximately 27 kg allocated in pens (8 pigs/pen) were used in a random block design with three treatments and six replications for each one. The objective was to partially substitute soybean meal contained in the feeds by home made protein molasses (HPM). The substitution levels evaluated were: 0, 25 and 58% The feeding system was molasses B and feeds. No significant differences were found in daily gain (568, 561 and 549 g) and concentrate conversions of 3.22, 3.21 and 3.25 kg/kg gain). There was st reduction in conversion (wet basis) for soybean meal + Mozirsk yeast (0.91, 0.61 add 0.35 kg/kg gain). It is concluded that up to 58% of the soybean meal can be replaced by home made protein molasses in a feeding system and with molasses B feeds for pigs.
