NUMERI - A SOFTWARE TOOL FOR COMPUTER-AIDED EDUCATION OF STUDENTS

An exact knowledge of the various algorithms in the field of digital signal processing is necessary for their useful and efficient application. Particularly in the teaching of students the theoretical background is not sufficient. Accordingly, the Lehrstuhl fur Elektrische Mebtechnik, Technical University of Munich, developed the software tool NUMERI containing the major fields of digital signal processing, such as Fourier transform, digital filtering, correlation, fitting and statistics. The user is led by interactive menus which leave sufficient freedom to experiment and to gain insight into the use of the algorithms, their relative strengths and weaknesses and their limitations. The paper describes the package contents und shows the fields of application by some examples.
