摘要
Some of the key elements that homeland security is needed to revitalized US infrastructure are discussed. Infrastructure is generally considered to include all of the nation facilities that provide for the underlying necessities of its population and commerce, such as power, communications, and transportations. The most effective way to protect public safety is to prevent destructive attacks and actions before the can be implemented. The security needs to be tight at US airports, government facilities, landmark building, large sporting events. The most effective recourse to cope with a looming catastrophe is for the Department of Homeland Security to be at the highest point of emergency that preparedness in terms of search and rescue, evacuation, and care for thousand of displaced people. The use of infrastructure for homeland security is analogous to the use of structural design to avoid failures. A design safety margin is needed to enable a certain amounts of overload or other uncertainties above maximum expected demands.
