GLOBAL SCIENCE NEEDS BETTER INTERNATIONAL MARKETPLACES

Jesse H. Ausubel, director of Rockefeller University's Program for the Human Environment, discusses the serious problems facing United States science as it approaches the year 2000. He considers the role the U.S. plays in the global science community, and urges creation of ''international marketplaces,'' where researchers and policy officials can gather, exchange ideas, and, in general, conduct the increasingly complex business of science.
