摘要：
Ventilator-associated pneumonia carries a high mortality rate, yet accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment still present a dilemma. Causative agents depend on source, ventilation duration and previous antimicrobial therapy. Despite invasive diagnostic techniques, microbiological findings correlate with histological diagnosis in only 50% of cases, particularly in the presence of antibiotic therapy.
