ARCHITECTURE OF INTEGRATED INFORMATION-SYSTEMS (ARIS)

A multiplicity of methods for information systems design has been developed. In this paper, the Architecture of Integrated Information Systems is derived as a foundation for the evaluation of these methods and as the basis for the creation of a methodology (theory of methods) for information systems design methods. The derivation of the architecture starts out with a process perspective on the enterprise. To reduce the complexity, the operations of abstraction, creation of views and the introduction of a procedural model are used to systematically derive the framework. Subsequently data modeling techniques are used to formalize the Architecture of Integrated Information Systems.
