摘要：

Several assumptions are presented as the basis for the creation of an independent system for the accreditation of recreational therapy education. The foundation for the accreditation of recreational therapy education as an allied health care discipline and the rationale and evolution of the Committee on Accreditation of Recreational Therapy Education is discussed. The accreditation of education for recreational therapy practice under the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs has become a reality. Barriers and solutions for existing recreational therapy/therapeutic recreation educational programs are presented.
