Narratives of the Vega of Granada as a myth in danger of disappearance: semantics of the local-global conflict

The complex essence of the Vega de Granada is reflected in the expression urban vega. This work provides data of a qualitative nature and elements of reflection whose purpose is to contribute to a better understanding, comprehension and appreciation of the Vega of Granada as exponent of the transformations that are doomed local spaces in the global context of today's world. The data obtained have been treated using techniques of discourse analysis as a way of deconstructing the obvious (the "naturalized") and as a process of identifying the semantic spaces in conflict. The discovered narrative matrix unfolds between the "Vega = something/life" positions and "City = death/nothing" semantic chain. These approaches provide a form of possible interpretation in the re-building and re-territorialisation of the locale in the analysis of the local-global conflict, away from categorical statements unrelated to any other inquiry option. The final reflection notes that the Vega of Granada is immersed in a process of change in the global context, where it is a priority to agree on future strategies that materialize the asset itself that is the Vega, forced to redefine their local identity in terms of multi-functional wealth and overcome the myth of its own (in)existence.
