摘要
This research presents a series of social exclusion indicators related to the transport system, with the objective of understanding the spatial mobility patterns in a typical Chilean middle size city. The indicators were developed with information from the Origin-Destination Survey (EOD, 2004) conducted in the city of Los Angeles, Bio Bio region, Chile. We propose a classification scheme of indicators, based on Manheim's 1979 original framework, constituted by the Activity System, the Transport System, and the Flow Patterns in the city. The results illustrate the relationship between the urban and transport systems, emphasizing the high concentration of activities in the downtown core, which attracts high travel demand levels from the periphery. The main contribution of this work consists on establishing a methodology to study the interaction between the transport system and its users, from a social, spatial and quantitative perspective; using conventional data.
