A measurement method of the spatial distribution of the nonlinearity parameter B/A is presented. The nonlinear interaction of two waves propagating in the same or opposite directions is discussed, and the process for obtaining the absolute spatial distribution of B/A is precisely deduced. Experiments are carried out for the simple spatial distribution model of B/A. The observed results support the present method, and estimations for the spatial distribution of B/A are obtained. The spatial resolution of measurement is discussed and some features appearing in the observed results, which are related with the present method, are mentioned.
