Business strategies in investing company of the petrochemical sector: a case of study

摘要
The primary purpose of this study was to explore the process of corporate strategies in an investing company of the petrochemical sector that participates in the capital market. For this purpose the intention was know the production process and the investment sector in which operates the company under study, identifying tools for business strategy formulation of the petrochemical industry and the referred company in particular, analyzing the most important aspects assumed by this organization for the period 1990-2006. The used methodology was descriptive, supported on literature review, interviews, observations and analysis of documents related to petrochemicals business. The results show that despite the great managerial efforts made to improve the administrative processes has been unable to ensure an adequate reward to its shareholders. It is conclude that the corporate strategies undertaken by this company for the studied period did not produce the success required by the organization; therefore it is recommended the reformulation of its strategic plan in order to address the difficulties in the environment, taking into consideration the characteristics of the Venezuelan petrochemical sector.
