Based on Enskog's equation and on Grad's method of moments, a kinetic theory for polyatomic dense gases of rough spherical molecules is developed. General expressions for the transport coefficients - of the constitutive equations for the pressure tensor, heat flux, and spin flux - are obtained, from the transition of a 29-field theory (with density, linear and spin velocities, pressure tensor, translational and rotational heat fluxes, spin flux, and temperature as basic fields) to an eight-field theory (with density, linear and spin velocities, and temperature as basic fields). The problem concerning the propagation of plane harmonic waves of small amplitudes is analyzed for the theory of eight fields.
