Taking the notion of boundary as a metaphor, this paper traces an overview of the relations between the soccer world and the Brazilian literate society of the first half of the twentieth century. In this perspective, Mario Filho's journalistic work, as well as his books, get special attention as a starting point for the debate on sociocultural, discursive and disciplinary boundaries involved in the study of interactions and interfaces between literature and culture.
