摘要
Forming and cutting tools are commonly treated by the combination of CVD (Chemical vapor deposition) hard coating and martensitic through hardening. The combination of CVD coating with following laser beam hardening offers an alternative for fast and low distortion post heat treatment of CVD coated steel substrates. Laser beam hardening allows local hardening of tools. Good properties of both, the hard coating, and the substrate can be used. The hard coating exhibits a high wear resistance whereas the substrate possesses a high strength after a suitable heat treatment. In particular at start and end points of closed tool contours overlapping of laser beam traces occurs. Overlapping laser tracks of HT-CVD TiN coated steel substrates 42CrMo4 (4140) and X153CrMoV12 (D2) were examined regarding microstructure, hardness, residual stresses, and distortion.
