The new hydropsychid caddisfly, Hydropsyche franclemonti, is described, illustrated and its distribution plotted (Connecticut, New York, North and South Carolina, Virginia and Quebec). It is differentiated from its closest relatives in the scalaris group, H. rossi and H. mississippiensis, and their distributional patterns are discussed.
