LIQUID FEEDING IN PIG FATTENING

Liquid feeding of fattening pigs has gained an established position in the Federal Republic. It is of interest particularly for reasons of works technology. The feed-to-water ratio should be between 1:2.5 and 1:3.5, while the nutrient concentration must be sufficient at any rate. Aspects of hygiene are of particular relevance when its comes to liquid feeding. High-water and high-sugar media may provide an ideal culturing basis for fungi and certain bacteria. Appropriate feeding techniques may be helpful in reducing damage which in case of higher incidence should be taken into account by the veterinarian.
