摘要：
The magnetic properties of glasses containing rare earth ions are discussed in this chapter. A brief discussion of magnetism and magnetic measurement techniques is included to familiarize the reader with the methods used in these studies. However, the emphasis of this chapter is on the effect of the identity and concentration of rare earths incorporated in amorphous matrices on the magnetic behavior of glasses. A number of examples from oxide and fluoride-based systems will be presented.
