PREVALENCE OF COOPERATION AND COMPETITION - EVIDENCE FROM DIVERSE ORGANIZATIONS

692 employees from 15 organizations indicated how their goals and those of their colleagues were related in over 1000 specific interactions. Cooperative interdependence was 3.5 times more frequent than competition and 5.3 times more than independence. Yet within this cooperation was much conflict.
