摘要
Man has been always exposed to ionizing radiation originating from various natural and man-made sources and thus, through ingestion or inhalation, contaminated by certain doses of radiation. As a result of the Chernobyl accident, radioactive gases and particles were released to the atmosphere and distributed over the Northern Hemisphere. Transfer of transuranium radionuclides to man via the food chain is generally much lower than the associated transfer by inhalation. In connection with the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the concentration of Pu-239,Pu-240 was determined in surface air and fallout at several locations in Croatia over the period of the last 4 years. Pu-239,Pu-240 was found in the surface air only in the period of April 29th 1986 till end of June 1986. The increased activity of Pu-239,Pu-240 has also been proven in fallout from May 1st 1986 till the end of 1989.
